Student Loan Debt – It’s Not Funny Anymore Kids

Student Loan Debt – It’s Not Funny Anymore Kids

Over the last year I’ve sat in Starbucks and heard many a student complain and moan, then laugh about their huge student loan debt. Well, I don’t find it the least bit funny, nor do I approve of our government paving the way to yet another bubble building exercise, but that’s what’s happening, meanwhile colleges and universities have experienced more demand than supply so they have added on new wings, new degree programs and expanded campuses, all the while raising tuition costs to; whatever the market will bear.

In some regards I find it fascinating that the left-leaning academia will continually trash on free-market capitalism while they create a Disneyland type of environment which is not based in any sort of economic reality, then have the brass nuts to tell us how to run our economy.

Now then, there was an interesting piece on MSNBC Money online news on September 2, 2013 titled; “9 Ways to Cut Your Student Loan Debt” – For many, repaying student loans is a burdensome process. Here are some programs that can lend a helping hand,” in which the article sported many novel ideas from getting scholarships to good negotiation. But I have a better idea, get a job, or quit school.

Want to know what’s even worse? Well, the Wall Street Journal has reported that “JP Morgan Will Exit the Student Loan Business,” by Dan Fitzpatrick and Robin Sidel, September 6, 2013 which noted that the company only made $200 million in 2012 from their student loan activities, and yet lent out over $6 billion. What does this mean, it means that with the number of defaults and the chances of these student loans going bad, they cannot risk the losses for such little revenue gains. Congress and the Obama Administration put in price controls, as most socialist countries due in various sectors to no avail disallowing the raising of interest rates even when more and more student loans go into default.

If the banks cannot make money in this sector or making these types of loans they will stop, once they stop there will be fewer loans. Anytime price controls are instituted, and we know this not only from history but as any good student of micro-economics, there will be shortages. JP Morgan although not the largest player in the sector, is still a well-known name and if they’ve decided to do this others will follow, just as opponents to the interest rate moratoriums had predicted, as did I. Please consider all this and think on it.

More Than Just A Music Teacher

More Than Just A Music Teacher

Private music teachers are great for the accelerated education of a student interested in music. However, the teacher needs to pull his own weight and be a good mentor for the student. There needs to be a mutual love for the music, not just a person looking for some extra cash.

When you do hold a music lesson, you need to have a structured lesson plan that pushes the student to new levels without letting him or her get comfortable in any one area. Rather a constant building process is needed. Music teaching is not always easy though.

The art of music teaching comes with many difficulties and problems along the way. One of the most common problems that arise, especially from young children, is a lack of will. Some children are actually forced to get private lessons by their parents making the students difficult to teach to.

Another problem with some students is frustration. It is most likely that sometime in a students music career, they will become frustrated by a particular part in a song or a playing technique. The role of the teacher is important at this moment because this can often be the moment at which a student quits or decides to really pursue his music dream.

When handling the difficult moments of teaching young students, the teacher needs to be patient with them. Patience is a key to alleviating the stress. A music teacher also needs to give constant motivation for the student success. Without much motivation, there will be a lack of practice and skill performance from the student and this will not help your case for gaining future students.

In conclusion, music teaching is more than simply teaching a student how to play an instrument. It involves patience and teaches a student how to have motivation and desire to do the best you can. It can be related to coaching a sports team, which is more than just trying to win games. Coaching sports also teaches respect and team etiquette. So make sure that music isnt the only thing the student learns.

Creative School Fundraising Ideas

Creative School Fundraising Ideas

Looking for school fundraising ideas that are out of the ordinary, creative and fun is easy if you really sit down and think about it. First find an interest in the community that you are targeting. It is helpful if they can identify with your cause and actually believe in it. By making the community see that they are involved in your goal, you are encouraging them to support you. At the same time, you are making it worth their while.
Fundraising in school should be fun. People who are enjoying themselves at your event are likely to be more charitable and would have a tangible thought that they feel they are getting something for their donated money.
There are plenty of school fundraising ideas to choose from. When choosing one, it is important that it represents your cause and your group. Sometimes involving the entire group in the process will promote team work and ultimately help your group.
One classic idea for a fund raising event is selling raffle tickets. The money acquired can be used to purchase prizes for the winners. It would also help increase your profit if some of these prizes are donated by parents or by businesses in the community. Remember the less you spend, the more profit your group will make.
A fundraising suggestion that would surely persuade school participation is a school bazaar. Invite parents and other community members to feature their businesses in a school bazaar. By doing this you will allow them to advertise their merchandise and services to the entire community. The partaker would be allocated their own booths and the school can charge a payment for each booth they rent.
Another brilliant idea to raise funds for the school that would involve little or no money on your part is auctioning services or talents of students in the local community. You can come up with a directory of donors, and their corresponding talents or services they would provide. An example of this might be, a student donating lawn mowing. The school will auction this service off to the highest bidder and will earn the cost of the bid.
Last but not least, you can never go wrong with the safe route and choose some tried and tested fundraising ideas. Some ideas may include garage sales, car washes, exclusive movie premieres or special screenings, concert and theatrical plays.

Students issued tax warning

Students issued tax warning

The vast majority of people who earn money are keen to ensure they do not pay too much income tax. For this reason, some use an income tax calculator or PAYE calculator to help them assess whether or not they have.

Students may be among those who can benefit most from such activity, research conducted by one organisation suggests.

According to the Low Incomes Tax Reform Group (LITRG), around six million people are likely to now be receiving tax calculations having not paid the right tax under Pay As You Earn (PAYE), and students are particularly at risk of this.

The reason for this, the organisation claimed, is that such people can find that the system struggles to keep up with their working patterns. For example, undergraduates may be working in several jobs at once, frequently moving between roles, doing irregular work with agencies or be involved in a ‘sandwich’ course during which they work for a year.

Students are advised to keep on top of their income deductions, which may involve using an income tax calculator or PAYE calculator. Not only may mistakes mean they overpay, but they may also result in such people paying too little. In such cases, they could be hit with an unexpected bill at a later date.

With this in mind, LITGR issued advice to students. For example, it stated: “If you start a new job without a P45, but your former employer later gives you one … you can still give it to your new employer for them to adjust your tax code.

“But otherwise, you might need to keep an eye on your payslips and contact HMRC to chase up processing of your P46 to make sure you get put back on a cumulative code if it doesn’t appear to be done automatically.”

Earlier this year, HM Revenue & Customs revealed that a number of people had either under paid or overpaid tax and it sent out correspondence to inform these individuals of the errors.

Important Information Regarding Student Loan And Consolidation

Important Information Regarding Student Loan And Consolidation

Have student loans been a major headache for you lately? It’s no wonder since the average student has more than $8,000 dollars in student loan debt. It’s been shown that a greater than 40 percent of all college graduates have debts in excess of ten thousand dollars. Some of the college graduates that we polled reported that they owed even greater amounts of debt than the majority of college graduates.

It’s important to remember that a college education can be expensive. Students must pay for books, supplies and other preparatory materials in addition to their tuition. Students need to also pay for their lifestyle, such as, clothing, food and their rent. It’s also important to remember that school will take a large portion of your time, so some of them won’t be able to work part time. This increases the strain on many students making it difficult to concentrate on their studies.

So instead, many college students end up taking on more student loans to pay for the costs of school rather than increase their work loads. Taking out larger student loans will mean that they have a significant amount of debt once they graduate from college.

Luckily, college graduates have options that are available to them. They may continue to attend school for at least half time and this will allow them to defer repayment while in school. Remember that you will at some point need to start paying off your student loans. If you are currently paying on your student loans and are having difficulty making your monthly payments, then you should consider consolidating your loans.

By using a student loan consolidation, you will be able to pay all of your other loans off with a bigger loan that consolidates them. Loan consolidation can greatly simplify the repayment of your school debts by allowing you to pay just one bill each month instead of many. The big benefit here is that you will pay a lower monthly payment. Paying a lower monthly payment each month can greatly reduce the stress on a person.

An important point to note is that since the person is paying less each month on their student loans, they will end up paying slightly more over the life of their consolidation loan. This happens mainly because you will end up paying your loan over a longer period of time. This means that the balance accrues more interest. If you think about it though, it is better to pay the loan off slowly if you are having difficulty making the regular payments.

Why Some Students With Low Grades Make it To Prime Universities

Why Some Students With Low Grades Make it To Prime Universities

It’s puzzling how some students make it to prime universities, while your application on the other hand, gets rejected. You wonder even more, especially when you know (modesty aside) that academically speaking, you are better than that person. That can only be attributed to one explanation: Universities are not all after the intellectually-gifted applicants.

Figures don’t impress that much. You got a perfect score on your SAT and ACT. You also graduated with honors. Still, those accomplishments are not enough for your application to be approved by panelists. There are still other components that matter aside from the figures that prove you are indeed smart. Admission essays, recommendation letters and extracurricular involvement also count. Universities, nowadays, do not only want students that can answer complex mathematical problems manually. They want those who recognize their passions and are working hard to pursue them. They want those that care not only about themselves, but also the community they are in.

Panelists don’t rank applicants. With the thousand applications they have to review, admission officials no longer have the time to group students according to GPAs and SAT scores. And even if they have ample time, still, they would not do so. They look into your grades for a minute or so, sometimes even only for a few seconds, to see whether you can keep up with the classes, and that you would not fail. And that’s it. After officials have seen your grades, then again you are on the same playing field as the rest of other applicants. In short, the admission process is not about the university arranging applicants according to grades, picking the top ten percent and then discarding those at the bottom of the list.

Character appeals more. Universities desire to admit students that would make their community more diverse. They want aspiring leaders, innovators, national athletes and motivational speakers. Do not just invest on your grades. Join organizations whose purpose you support. And do not move from one to another every year. This is not about the quantity. Show rather the developments you have made from being a member of the group, to being voted as among the officials. Also, join outreach activities during summer so you can beef up your application.

Do not feel jealous, If that is your friend who got accepted, then you should be happy more than anything else. Instead of fostering grudge, it is best that you work on your other applications, and work on compensating for what you may be lacking. This is for your benefit especially if you are waitlisted and are looking forward to be given another chance by a university of your choice.
